Frequently Asked Questions

Moringa oil is a lightweight carrier oil cold-pressed from the seeds of Moringa oleifera, the tree often called the "drumstick tree" in parts of India and Southeast Asia. It's naturally pale golden and has a mild, soft-nutty scent that fades quickly on the skin. People reach for it as a face oil, a scalp massage and pre-shampoo treatment, a body oil after the shower, a base for DIY beard oils, and as a carrier when diluting essential oils for cosmetic blends. HBNO® sells it cold-pressed and certified organic in retail and DIY-friendly sizes.
Store the bottle in a cool, dark cabinet between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, away from direct sunlight and the stove. Sealed and unopened, HBNO® Moringa Seed Oil keeps its quality for about 24 months from the bottling date. Once opened, plan to finish it within 12 months for the freshest scent and color. If the oil takes on a sharp, paint-like, or strongly bitter smell, or the color goes from pale gold to muddy brown, set it aside and order fresh. A practical tip: buy a size you'll actually use up in a year, since a smaller bottle finished fresh always beats a big one going past its best.
Yes. As a carrier oil, moringa is meant to go on skin without dilution, and most people apply it neat to the face, hair, and body. The dilution rule kicks in when you start mixing essential oils into the moringa. For face blends, use a 1% dilution, which is roughly 1 drop of essential oil per teaspoon of moringa oil. For body blends, 2% works for most adults, or about 2 drops per teaspoon. Always patch test a new blend first, and keep the oil away from your eyes, ears, and mucous membranes.
Apply 2 drops of HBNO® Moringa Seed Oil to the inside of your forearm, then leave it alone for 24 hours. Watch for any redness, itching, or unusual warmth. If anything shows up, stop use and wipe the area with a clean carrier oil like Jojoba or Sweet Almond rather than water, since oil dissolves oil better than water does. If you're pregnant, nursing, or building a routine for a child, consult your healthcare provider before adding new oils to a routine, especially when they include essential oils in the blend.
The oil is pale gold, runs thin in the bottle, and absorbs in about 60 to 90 seconds when pressed into damp skin, leaving a soft, slightly dry finish rather than a slick one. The scent is mild and soft-nutty, more like a fresh seed than a strong floral or herbal, and it fades within an hour. On the standard cosmetic formulation scale, moringa oil is generally listed at a comedogenic rating of around 3 out of 5, which puts it in the moderate range. Most people use it on the face without issue, especially in a leave-on routine at night, but if your skin runs reactive, start with the body and forearms before working up to facial use.
HBNO® sources its moringa seed oil from organic-certified farms in India, the country that supplies the bulk of the world's Moringa oleifera seed production. The oil is cold-pressed without solvents, then batch tested using GC/MS (gas chromatography mass spectrometry) to confirm the fatty acid profile and screen for contaminants. Each batch is USDA Organic certified, and the certificate of analysis is available on request. The pricing reflects the cost of organic-certified, single-origin material, not boutique markups stacked on top of generic supply.

Testimonials

My new nighttime face oil

I press 4 drops into damp skin every night before bed and it sinks in within a minute, no greasy pillowcase the next morning. After about three weeks my skin looks more even and my husband actually noticed.

Pre-shampoo scalp massage blend that works

I do a one-teaspoon scalp massage with this once a week, leave it on for 30 minutes, then shampoo. My hair feels softer and my scalp feels less dry through the winter months. The bottle has lasted me about two months at this pace.

Marcus T.Verified Buyer
Perfect base for my DIY body oil

I blend 2 tbsp of this with 6 drops of lavender essential oil in a glass dropper bottle and use it as my after-shower body oil. It spreads easily, doesn't stain my pajamas, and the scent stays subtle. Way cheaper than the boutique stuff I used to buy.

Lauren H.Verified Buyer
Switched from a $42 boutique brand

I'd been buying a small-batch moringa face oil for years at almost three times the price. Honestly, HBNO's smells the same, absorbs the same, and the bottle is twice the size. No reason to go back.

Daniela F.Verified Buyer
My go-to in my carrier oil rotation

I've been reordering this for over a year now. I use it three times a week as a beard oil with a couple drops of rosemary essential oil mixed in, and I rotate it with jojoba for my face. The shelf life on moringa is better than almost anything else I keep on hand.
