Fragrance oils are among the most versatile ingredients in any maker's toolkit. One bottle opens up an entire world of creative possibilities — here's everything you can do:

Candle Making

  • Fragrance load: Use 6–10% fragrance by weight of your wax (e.g., 10g fragrance per 100g wax). Start at 6% and increase for stronger hot throw.
  • Mixing temperature: Add fragrance oil when your melted wax cools to 55–65°C (130–150°F) for best binding and minimal off-gassing. Stir for 2 minutes until fully incorporated.
  • Best fragrances for candles:
    Warm & cozy:     Vanilla Bean, Sandalwood, Amber, Tonka Bean, Cinnamon Bark
    Fresh & clean: Ocean Breeze, Clean and Fresh, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Lemon
    Floral: Rose, Jasmine, Gardenia, Lilac, Tuberose Petals, Geranium
    Fruity/gourmand: Mango, Blueberry, Chocolate, Honey, Georgia Peach
  • Soy wax tip: Soy candles benefit from fragrance oils with strong vanilla or musk anchoring notes — they prevent scent morphing during curing. Let soy candles cure 48–72 hours before burning for maximum hot throw.

Soap Making

  • Fragrance rate: Use 2–4% of total oil weight (PPO) in cold process soap, or up to 3% in melt-and-pour bases. Most of our fragrance oils are soap-safe.
  • Acceleration tip: Some fragrance oils (especially floral-heavy or sweet notes like vanilla and cinnamon) can accelerate trace in cold process soap. Mix your fragrance with a small amount of cooled soap batter before adding to the batch, or switch to a stick-blend-free mixing method.

DIY Perfume & Personal Fragrance Oils

  • Basic perfume oil formula:
    Base:     10–15ml jojoba oil (lightest carrier, least scent interference)
    Fragrance: 15–30% of total volume (fragrance oil + any essential oil accords)
    Structure: Top / Middle / Base note balance
  • Beginner scent combinations:

  • How to make perfume oil step by step:
  1. Choose 3–4 complementary fragrance notes (1 top, 1–2 middle, 1 base)
  2. Add your fragrance blend to jojoba oil in a dark glass roller bottle
  3. Cap and roll gently — do not shake (creates micro-bubbles)
  4. Apply to pulse points: wrists, inner elbows, behind ears, base of throat

Home Fragrance

  • Reed diffuser: Mix 70% DPG (dipropylene glycol) or fractionated coconut oil with 30% fragrance oil. Pour into a narrow-neck vessel with reed sticks. Flip sticks every 3–4 days. Best long-throw fragrances: Sandalwood, Amber, Jasmine, Vanilla Bean.
  • Room/linen spray: Mix 70% isopropyl alcohol (91%+) + 20% distilled water + 10% fragrance oil. Shake before each use. Spray linen, curtains, or upholstery from 12 inches. Best for: Fresh Cut Grass, Ocean Breeze, Lavender, Clean and Fresh.
  • Wax melts: Use 8–12% fragrance load. Our Mango, Blueberry, and Cherry fragrances produce excellent hot throw in paraffin wax melt bases.

Body Oils, Bath Products & Personal Care

  • Body oil: Add 2–3% fragrance oil to a carrier oil blend (sweet almond, fractionated coconut, jojoba). Apply after shower on damp skin for lasting scent and moisture.
  • Bath bombs: Use 1–2% fragrance in your dry mix. Vanilla-based fragrances (Vanilla Bean, French Vanilla, Vanilla Coconut) and florals (Rose, Jasmine) are bath bomb classics.
  • Shower steamers: Embed 3–5% fragrance in your baking soda/citric acid base. Eucalyptus, Camphor, Fir Needle, and Peppermint create a spa-grade shower experience

This is why fragrance oils can achieve complex scents like chocolate, ocean breeze, or vanilla bean that a single-plant essential oil cannot. Our "Natural Fragrance" products are made without synthetic ingredients.
Start with a 10ml dark glass roller bottle filled with jojoba oil. Add 15–30% of your chosen fragrance oils (or a blend of 2–3 fragrances). Roll gently to combine, then apply to pulse points. No maceration time needed — oil perfumes are ready immediately and last longer on skin than alcohol-based versions. Try: Sandalwood + Amber + Vanilla Bean for a classic warm oriental.
