A workable premium starting point is 40 to 50 percent jojoba or fractionated coconut, 30 to 40 percent sweet almond or grapeseed depending on the target dry-down, and 10 to 20 percent argan and rosehip for the deck. A light, fast-drying base releases top notes quickly and gives a short scent life. A heavier base with more jojoba holds aromatic materials longer and flatters base notes. Send a perfumer a brief without specifying the carrier and you will get a fragrance that performs beautifully on a scent strip and inconsistently in the bottle.
