Tocopherol, tocopheryl acetate, or mixed tocopherols: not interchangeable
The free phenolic hydroxyl group is what gives a tocopherol its antioxidant activity, so esterified forms such as tocopheryl acetate contribute little antioxidant function to an oil phase.
